To popularize research, expand scientific and scientific and technical contacts aimed at solving the problems facing the republic and the scientific and technical community, and develop international and interregional cooperation in 2002 at the initiative of Academician V.P. Larionova at the Institute organized the I Eurasian Symposium on the problems of the strength of materials and machines for cold climate regions.
The main goal of the events is to develop solutions to urgent problems related to the fundamental and applied development of physics and mechanics of the strength of materials at low temperatures, reliability and service life of structures in cold climates, with the creation of new materials and critical technologies as the basis for safety and development of the industrial potential of the North and North -East of Russia.
This symposium is already X in a row and is dedicated to the brainchild of Larionov's 50th anniversary of the Institute of Physical and Technical Problems of the North, bearing his name.
The Symposium will host the conference “Welding in Russia - 2020: Current State and Prospects”.
